Patagonia and Altiplano Expedition | #1 – Preparation

We have some exciting news. From August 2022 we have a one-year sabbatical from our main jobs and plan to use this time for a long South America expedition.

The two main regions we want to explore are Patagonia and the Altiplano. Therefore we will spend most of our time in Chile, Argentina, and Bolivia.

We plan to document our trip on video and publish it on Youtube.

We talked to a couple of long-term travelers like Stephy and Leigh from GrizzlyNbear and asked them whether we should edit and publish the videos during the trip or afterwards and their clear recommendation was that if the trip is limited to just one year it’s much better to do the editing after the trip and fully enjoy your time during the trip. We will follow this advice and plan to do the editing when we are back home.

But we will publish regular updates on this blog and on Instagram @wildplacesoverland during the trip.

We have now terminated our apartment lease and sold everything that we don’t need anymore on eBay. Currently, we are in the process of putting most of our belongings in boxes and bringing them to a storage space.

The bags for our trip are already packed and the flights to Santiago de Chile are booked. But there is still a lot of paperwork to do before we finally leave in August.
